Hindcast: Golden Sun 1, the broken seal.

It was in 2005/2006 if I remember correctly, when I played this game before us. Would thirteen, and only had two consoles: A ps-one with a bunch of disks, and Game Boy Color ... virtually no use, because the two games we had were broken. (It was sad XD)

But in those days, which was almost completely disconnected from the world of video games, a fellow of the institute passed me a CD with rooms for game boy advance, game boy and a few Super Nintendo.

As you understand, it was like a Boom << >> for me. I could spend the pokémon red (to which I will devote another article in days to come) and found among others ... the game I'm going to talk about today.

This game advance, considered by many one of the best of his catalog; was developed in Japan by the company Camelot Software Planing. Initially (and with a different name by which we know it today) was a subsidiary of Sega, who gained fame for the famous video game series Shining Force for Sega Megadrive and Saturn. But then Nintendo would sign a contract with the lead to become a second-party, which only create games for that brand.

Led by nintendo his first golf game is Mario (Nintendo 64) and also in the series of golden sun, has created other games like mario tennis, several golf games mario image and Shining force for Ds.

But for now, let's put aside both the other games and the company that created them, to focus on its essence: History can not be simpler, while surely to a 5 year old would understand. We live in Tale, a village located in a flat world called Weyard, which was known as the force of alchemy. A force led to an era of splendor known as the golden age, but that ended abruptly when sealing the powers of alchemy fearing to destroy the world.
And then become Tale, the custodian of the keys that would allow the release of this great power.
Some ancient treasures hidden in a fortress, guarded jealously by a village that did not know what they dozed in the top of the mountain that did not allow anyone to climb.
But strangers if they know, and accidentally activated trap sonne temple would lead to catastrophe that begins the saga.
A giant rock threatens to destroy Tale ... but it passes through the village down to a few damage and death of several persons among which were the father of Hans, the protagonist, and the family of Nadia, another character game.
That's what started the big story of the game. A race against all or nothing, to save the world.
They stole the stars elementary, and duty is recover Taleans sending Hans and Garet, both players in the process of rediscovering the stars elementary and Saturos and menardi theft in their search.
On that trip, both known to many people, some of whom may use some powers similar to yours (Psynergy) and join them on their mission: Mia, an adept of Mercury and Ivan, a Jupiter Adept.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of the characters have a palpable personality .. or rather, a Christian: They are as flat as the breasts of an Asian (emphasizing the notion that the Asian's have small, when there are several examples that not have to be like XD)

The graphics are more than a handful of pixels, or dots of pixelart. The world is captured with an undeniable beauty, and almost magical. And they are certainly the best graphics on the handheld console.
Not talking about polygons, or 3d. We talked pixelated beauty, and pseudo 3D isometric.
But have not aged that much, compared with those of ... Final Fantasy VII?
Personally, I think the games with "3D" always fare worse than those who were practically painted dot to dot as might be the case of the game at hand now ... or Final Fantasy 6.

But anyway, if a game brings those memories ... you will always be on our mind like the first time, and really needs to be very bad to change the first impression. Golden sun does not change, but improvement. Whenever I go to take a quick game, try to unravel beyond this world of pixels, but always I have the feeling that I have not scratched the surface.
But not all the graphics.

Motoi Sakuraba

The music was composed by Motoi Sakuraba, Japanese composer and musician who has also participated in other projects ... not only camelot (also collaborated in shining forces and the vast majority of games the company) but namco games (Tales series of) or Square-enix (Star Ocean and valquirie Profile)
The music is not only a very good support, but it becomes magical.
And who of you have played, ever been able to forget the melody of Home, or the fighting?

I chose these 3 issues, but are as representative and cualquiero good as another.

Its gameplay is classic, resembling the other classic Japanese RPG, but to see innovation in other aspects such as the battle system. Clearly, it is a turn-based battle system (but without ats as Final Fantasy), since the order of the characters that attacks will be decided by the statistics of the characters (agility, we XD)
Characters use the Psynergy, which is nothing else than magic. And then there are the Djinns, beings taken from Arabic mythology (if ever leeis the Arabian Nights find them) but focused on this symphony "Socratic" (The pre-Socratic philosophers were the first to establish the principle of the 4 elements that both are named in this saga)
What do the Djins? Basically allow you to change the class of the characters, and give them a range of powers according to their conbinación. But when they are used, can awaken much power May: The invocations.

The difficulty is not too suffocating. An initiate the rpgs may have some difficulty for fun, but once you've "caught" game mechanics, this difficulty vanishes. So much for fighting, but has in turn a few curious puzzles that can make you wonder if this is the first time you play.

Best of Golden Sun:
-Interesting story, with some twists. -Music surround.
-Graphics "old school" in the best gba.
-It's a game you never get bored

The worst:
-Perhaps the main characters are very flat, which are more interesting turn out to be the antagonists.
'Sometimes it can become a bit predictable, but is somewhat smaller.
-Even if you have some freedom of movement, borders on the linearity ... as the vast majority of J-rpgs.

My finding: The first golden sun is a highly recommended game. Very entertaining, and you will leave very deep footprint. Although unfortunately, that makes it an expensive game and quoted on the 2nd hand.

As a bonus I leave, one of the best ads I've seen video games. It seems incredible that he should make nintendo.
